Creative industries are a cornerstone of European economy

Study shows that the creative and cultural industries have shown exceptional resilience to the economic crisis.

Creative and cultural industries (CCIs) are one of the big employers in the EU and employ 3.3% of the EU’s working population. They are a powerhouse of economic growth in Europe; a way out of recession with a turnover of €535.9 billion. With 7.1m jobs, CCIs in the EU are 5 times as large as the telecommunications industry.

Also, the CCIs are well-placed to grow further in the future due to their role as forerunners in digital innovation.

Those are some of the key findings in the new report rapport Creating Growth: Measuring Cultural and Creative Markets in the EU by EY (formerly Ernst & Young) on behalf of a number of organisations in the creative field.
